Sometimes it pays off to have terrible Español

Image
Hola Familia, Well, I would like to begin by announcing that I am 65% fluent in Spanish! And by that I mean I can score a 65% on a grammar test. So I don't really know how fluent I am... Secondly, I can whistle! Elder Craven taught me on Sunday and I'm really bad, but that doesn't lessen the fact that I can do it now! Oh, and I'm officially in Tuxtla now so I guess that's kind of cool. ;) Even though I just emailed you guys a few days ago a lot has happened! So I'll take you from the beginning through. I felt ready to leave all last week. Our bags were packed and so I felt like we were supposed to leave every day. I really hate living out of a suitcase! We took lots of pictures Saturday and had to say goodbye to our awesome teachers Hermanos Valencia and Hurtado. We also got a really awesome Hasta Ver goodbye. It's a tradition in our building at the CCM (the Brigham Young Building) for all of the not leaving districts to line up against the walls of the ...

Gordo y feliz

Hola mi Guapa Familia! Dad, you know, I haven't looked too closely, but I'll find out! The sinks are really weird here, you have to push this switch in the middle of the faucet to turn on the water. Ezra, I finally got your letter! Thank you for sending it, I loved the picture! I haven't gotten any other mail though. Jens, I've been working on upping my prank game for you, though this week Burton-Larsen were unfortunately bested. If you leave your plate unattended in the Comedor it's not safe. Odds are you'll have corn in your orange soda when you get back. Hermana Burton was the target this week, she got jalapeño water! Moana, I'm glad you found it! I forgot about that!! Jarrad, I knew I could count on you to take care of the food I can't eat! Cami, this is good, now there will be room for a bigger picture of me! I hope you all are gordo y feliz this Thanksgiving and don't eat Pablo! Wow, I can't believe how fast the time has flown! I feel...

Mafia, Music, and Mantequilla

Hola Familia! I'm sad to say my tummy is not full of krispy kremes. Unfortunately I think it might have caught the illness plaguing the CCM. There's some sort of intestinal thing going around that literally has hit at least half of the missionaries! You see people everywhere walking around with giant Gatorade bottles and bags of saltine crackers from the Enfermeria. We literally had a district from our zone completely out of commission on Sunday! Hahaha it's kind of funny! Until you get it... Pray for the CCM! I still haven't gotten any letters! But they could be here, our district leader is responsible for picking them up but he and his companion have been stuck in their [rooms] for the past couple of days. Elder Hansen has been having weird back problems and they're at the hospital today. Hopefully he'll heal quickly and I'll get mail! And I still have no idea how I'm getting to my mission... I'm hoping we're flying because it's a 12 ho...

Week 4: check !

Hola Hola! Happy happy happy day of birth, Camillybobilly!! I´m so glad to hear the flower beard is being put to good use! I got the package! Thank you guys so much! And I loved the drawings, JJ and Ezra! Hahaha especially the taco sock! And the letters from everyone else too! I haven't gotten any other letters, but I got the missionary mail! Wow, Moana dating??? I´ll keep my eyes open, Jarrad, but no promises if the requirement is above 4'7 ;) I can't believe I'm more than half way through my CCM experience! For starters, the temple is AWESOME! It was our first time out of the CCM and I've never felt so free! The design is super Aztec and awesome. Plus they have escalators! The funny thing is they have icicle decorations on the palm trees for Christmas, and we were super confused because we thought they were real! The session was in Spanish, but we had headphones until the very end. I love driving through the City despite how crazy scary it is! Church owned f...
