Issues with the Word of Wisdom

Hola Familia! I finally was able to listen to all of your messages this week, so I feel like I've already talked to you ;) It was really nice to hear your voices and the messages from the Ward, thanks so much for sending it! Glad to hear work is lighter for you, Dad! Haha I hope you guys get to play a game for FHE tonight! I'm sorry for all the grey hairs, Mom and Dad. Haha hows the permit life, Mo? Haha! Cami, I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way. I'm not very good at handstands either. Hermana Marrero had some issues with the Word of Wisdom this week. She discovered to her dismay that Chai tea has black tea in it when she tried to buy it this week. It was also her birthday! But she doesn't like being 21 and feeling like a señora , hahaha! A lady in our ward brought her a cake for her birthday on Sunday, which we shared with all the Relief Society. Turns out the cake had coffee sprinkly stuff on top. So the entire Relief Society broke the Word of Wisdom in t...

Hola familia! The packages have finally been received! Christmas is real!! Thank you so much for everything you sent! Hermana Marerro plays with her yoyo every night during daily planning when she needs a stress break, and we wear our Chico shirts and kitty socks to bed! I'm honestly obsessed with the kitty socks and stickers! I didn't think I would be as excited about the stickers as I am! And the calendar is awesome! Soo nice to have! And even though Christmas has already passed we put the lights up in our room. I'll have to send pics next week! And I've already eaten all of the candy :) Haha I won't tell you to contact the future mission president Dad, but if you do you're not Hermana Larsen's dad, maybe you can say you're Hermana Burton's ;) and yes! your stalking is correct! I bought a uke this week! Thanks for sending me the hymn chords! I'm teaching Hermana Marrero and she loves it! Wow, looks like you guys had an awesome time at the...

Wearing pants for the first time

Hola familia! Wow, feliz cumpleaños, Abuelito (happy birthday, Grampa)! I'll definitely have to learn how to say farmer and handshake so I can teach the farmer's handshake in his honor ;) To answer your question about the water, it didn't get in our house, but I don't know that it would really make a difference if it did. Haha we just have tile. No one has carpet here! In every house it's just tile or concrete. I really miss carpet. Like I can live with our only furniture being a broken chair, but I dream of being able to walk around our apartment without shoes on. Do you guys think you could send me a little square of carpet or something? ;) And no, we opted not to shower until someone came to fix our green, chunky water, and we were desperate at that point! This transfer thus far has been a million times better than the last! There are finally different missionaries in Reforma! To be honest, we loved Reforma, it's a super organized and put together w...

I'm hungry for Thursday

Hola Familia! Wow! Looks like you guys had a wet week! I had a wet week too, but not in the same way. And no, unfortunately it wasn't baptism water ;) To answer your question, I always carry my umbrella. It's only rained twice, but it's super sporadic when it happens! So, better safe than sorry! Hermana Larsen And in reference to our wet week, our house has been having some major issues. This isn't new, there's always a shortage of water here in Chiapas and often our water will just turn off. We have turn on a machine to pump water when that happens. We have new neighbors and when we were gone they turned on the machine to pump water, but they just left it on. They didn't turn it off once the water came and so we came home to a flooded back porch! And now when we turn on any faucet, chunks of nasty, green who knows what comes out with the water. Perfect for showers! I'm feeling much better this week! I was basically just sick on Monday. Which is a...

Me and food aren't really on speaking terms right now

Hola Familia! This year's off to a rough start... Hermana Marrero and I both woke up throwing up this morning... but I won't give you the gory details :) We ate sooooo much this weekend! Ugh, I don't even want to think about it, but I will for posterity's sake. On Saturday there was confusion about who we were going to have the comida with so we went to a member's house who offered. But afterwards we got a call from the real family we were supposed to eat with worried because we hadn't shown up yet. So we ran across town to their casa and had a second meal. These people don't have a lot so when they make you food, you eat it! Before this weekend I didn't believe you could really eat yourself sick. Unfortunately I am here to testify that you can. I was miserable afterwards! I thought Hermana Marrero was going to have to roll me back to the house! And even more unfortunately, the eating wasn't over. We visited a member and his inactive son, and the...
